Hi all
I have just purchased a Kenwood TS 790 E and there is a small problem with it,
Which is a bit annoying to say the least, after programing and saving various frequencies to memory I pressed the No 3 / Call button and the main readout then showed C2 and no other buttons or functions work ? (It was totally locked up!)
My only way out was a factory reset by pressing A/B as well as Power on simultaneously this in turn loses all saved frequencies.
Is there anyone else with this problem and Please can anyone help me out of this?

Peter,

I’ve seen that behaviour once or twice as well.
However, never could figure out what key combination presses let me in to that situation.
Niether have I seen the issue ever again.

I had a TS790e once but didn't see that issue. Probably because I didn't use the call button. I suppose the best solution is to reprogram the radio and then never press call.

Many thanks for the prompt replies very much appreciated
The call button is also the digit No 3 button so it is not so easy to not press it,
I did think of disabling it on the rear PCB but any frequencies entered on the keypad could not be entered if it needed the No 3 in the frequency
What I did while programing the memories for odd repeater shifts using the split and vfo A and B was to enter the frequency of 433 without pressing enter first! with No 3 also being the call button it is so easy to do. By the time you realise what you have done it is to late and you have to do a factory reset! then you loose all the frequencies you previously saved.I would like to know if anyone else has had this problem and is there a way out of it without a factory reset? perhaps a mod or repair.

Peter,
I've had this. The solution is to store a call frequency, S20 for 2m
etc., for each band it does not cope with recalling an empty call
channel. This cured it for me and was quite useful as well.

Andy.
